Chupy is in rough shape and needs help.

The German shepherd was being treated in a Jensen Beach animal hospital for a rattlesnake bite when she somehow broke free and took off, the Martin County Sheriff's Office said.

"Chupy’s face is extremely swollen, and she is still quite ill," the department said in a Facebook post Monday.

The department said animal service officers were combing the area for the dog, who still has her intravenous line attached.

"Chupy’s family is actively searching for her," the department said.

The sheriff's office post had been shared more than 5,000 times as of Monday evening and garnered more than 400 comments.

"Praying she is found safe and sound, and is reunited with her family very soon!" one person posted.

Anyone who spots the dog is asked to call the department at 772-220-7170.
