In Obama era, voices reflect rising sense of racial optimism

In dozens of interviews in seven states, black men and women indicated that they were feeling more optimistic about race relations in the United States than even a year ago, when Barack Obama emerged as a serious contender for the White House. Many whites said they were feeling better, too. Yet no one claims that racial prejudice has isappeared. (May need to register)
