A powerful tornado in Uruguay that killed four people ripped apart a shoe store as curious people inside stood by a window.

The tornado in the city of Dolores last Friday ripped up houses and hurled cars in the air, according to the Associated Press. In this video, people inside a store stand by and escape just before the tornado destroys the store.

The video recorded on a shoe store's security camera shows customers and staff sheltering from the storm as debris smashed the windows.

The city was declared an emergency zone.
