Two large food recalls continue to grow nationwide, one involving frozen fruits and vegetables sold at several local stores, and the other involving almost 10 million pounds of cooked chicken that was used in a number of products.

In case you want to check your refrigerator and freezer, here’s a roundup of them both:

▪ Pilgrim’s Pride, based in Waco, Texas, has two recalls of cooked chicken that might be contaminated with extraneous metal materials. One involves 5,176,844 pounds of cooked chicken products made between May 6 and Dec. 3, 2015 and the other involves 4,527,300 pounds produced between Aug. 21, 2014 and March 1, 2016.

Many of these are commercial-size boxes and were shipped nationwide, including to schools. The brand names involved are Green Dragon, Sweet Georgia, Gold Kist Farms and Pierce Chicken. For the full list of products, including package codes, go to www.fsis.usda.gov.

▪ A massive recall for organic and nonorganic frozen fruits and vegetables continued to expand late last week, including 358 products under 42 brand names. All of them have best-by or sell-by dates between April 26, 2016 and April 26, 2018. The items packaged by CRF Frozen Foods in Washington state were contaminated with listeria and at least 8 people have been hospitalized.

The products were sold nationwide, including at Trader Joe’s, Costco and Harris Teeter. Trader Joe’s has recalled its house brand organic peas (00496636), petite peas (00122689), organic whole green beans (00169219), organic broccoli florets (00542784), organic foursome blend (00908672) The lots all have the code “BF”; products without “BF” on their codes are not part of the recall. In addition, Trader Joe’s has recalled its super sweet cut corn with the code 00299633.

On Monday afternoon, Trader Joe’s also added its Vegetable Fried Rice and Chicken Fried Rice to the recall. They have the bar codes 00521482 and 00332514.

On Friday, Harris Teeter joined the recall for its brands of organic corn (7203676395) and organic mixed vegetables (7203676393). Publix also recalled a wheatberry salad sold in its delis and Publix Sweet and Salty Almond Bars that might have contained ingredients involved in the listeria-related recall.
