A cyclist was struck and killed in Plantation early Monday morning according to Miami Herald news partner CBS4.

Witnesses said the driver, who was heading south on University Drive, had a green light when he hit the man who was trying to cross the road at Sunrise Boulevard.

People who live in the area say the man who died lives in the neighborhood and it was just part of his daily routine to ride to the 7-Eleven on the corner and get coffee.

The visibly shaken driver stopped after the accident and waited for police.
