A 64-year-old man accused of holding up a convenience store with a knife ran out of luck when his Ford Bronco overheated on I-95 and he was caught by cops with his hood up.
Robert Hickey robbed a Port St. Lucie Speedway gas station of $140 on Saturday and was spotted the next day broken down on the highway, standing outside the SUV, tcpalm.com reported.
Police say Hickey was wearing clothes that matched a surveillance video and he carried a pocket knife and $125.
He was charged with robbery and eluding a police officer and held on $250,000 bond, according to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office.
