Cops: Florida couple stashed grenades, pipe bombs, rifles in reach of 5-year-old in home

A Florida couple stashed two pipe bombs and two hand grenades in a bedroom, as well as eight rifles, five handguns and several boxes of ammunition within reach of a 5-year-old in their home, the Bradenton Herald reports.

Steve Pace, 23, and Katie Smith, 24, of Venice were charged with aggravated child abuse and possession of explosives.

According to the report, Sarasota County deputies discovered the domestic arsenal went they went to the home to assist in a welfare check by the Department of Children and Families.

Pace and Smith were carted off to jail on Friday.
