Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter got his picture taken Wednesday night in Key West — not by a paparazzi but by a booking photographer at a Keys jail.

Nickolas Gene Carter, 35, was arrested at the Hog’s Breath Saloon, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. He was charged with misdemeanor battery.

Carter and friend Michael Papayans, 27, were arrested and accused of battering two employees after being denied service for being too drunk. It happened about 7 p.m.

Key West police officer Daniel Blanco wrote in a report that General Manager Art Levin saw Carter and Papayans walk into the bar at 400 Front St. “heavily intoxicated” and that bartender Mark Hanna refused to serve them because of that. The two defendants “became agitated and aggressive” and were told to leave multiple times."

They refused and were forced out of the bar by security. Once outside, Carter allegedly grabbed bartender Skylar Carden by the neck and punched him and Papayans reportedly head-butted Manager Matthew Stecher.

Carter — who has a drunk-driving conviction in California — and Papayans were charged with misdemeanor battery and jailed on Stock Island and are due in court Thursday for their first appearances.

Monroe County Judge Ruth Becker set bond at $1,500 for both of them and ordered they not drink alcohol and to stay off the Hogs Breath premises.

Carter and his family, including younger brother and fellow singer Aaron, used to live in an oceanside compound across from Florida Keys Marathon International Airport. While living there, the family had brushes with authorities.

On May, 29, 2001, Carter ran his 45-foot Sea Ray aground in Knight Key Channel near the Seven Mile Bridge. Federal authorities said 3,762 square feet of seagrass was damaged. The following year, Carter paid a fine of $30,573 to finance restoration of the grass bed.

A sister, Bobbie Jean, who said she was a hairstylist, was arrested on Oct. 31, 2002, on a misdemeanor battery charge stemming from a fight in Marathon. On Nov. 6, 2003, she was arrested in Marathon again for drunk driving.

Nick Carter proposed to his now-wife Lauren Kitt in 2013 in the Keys.
