A woman called police from the Miami Princess Hotel at 3 p.m. Thursday and said a man in a white Dodge Ram truck pointed a gun and shot at her.

A police officer in the area saw a truck matching the description and tried to stop the man, Jorge Rochela, 30, but he sped away.

During the chase, one officer crashed into another car at Northwest 42nd Avenue and Second Street. A second officer in a marked police car followed Rochela and saw him throw marijuana out of his truck. Rochela later crashed into a car at the corner of Granada Boulevard and Mariana Street in Coral Gables.

Rochela was arrested and taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital with a possible broken ankle. Charges against him are pending.

The police officer hurt in the first crash was taken to Doctor’s Hospital with minor injuries.

The woman who called police hung up the phone and still has not been reached.
