Sheriff's deputies arrested a 27-year-old woman Thursday for battery after she slapped an elderly woman who denied her Facebook friend request, authorities reported.
Rachel Anne Hayes, of Clearwater, allegedly became enraged Wednesday at an undisclosed private residence when the unidentified 72-year-old victim said Hayes' Facebook name was inappropriate. She told Hayes she would be willing to accept the friend request if she changed the name, which was not disclosed in a news release from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.
The two women got into an argument, and Hayes left the Seminole home. When Hayes returned, the women fought again, this time at the threshold of the front door.
Deputies said Hayes slapped the elderly woman several times before she was able to retreat inside and lock the door.
