A stretch of the original downtown race course for the Miami Grand Prix has been named for founder Ralph Sanchez.
Biscayne Boulevard from Northeast Second to Third streets will be known as “Ralph Sanchez Way” after Monday morning’s dedication ceremony.
Sanchez, who founded the Grand Prix in 1983 and also was a founder of the Homestead-Miami Speedway, died in April 2013 at age 64. As a child, he arrived in Miami from Cuba in the 1960s as part of Operation Pedro Pan.
