Hialeah police are looking for four men behind a robbery outside a warehouse that sent a worker to the hospital over his gold chain.
The victim is in critical but stable condition at Jackson Memorial Hospital, according to police. The man’s wife said that one of the suspects fired several shots and that one of those shots hit her husband in the stomach.
The attempted robbery took place around 4 p.m. Saturday near East 10th Court and 43rd Street
Part of a warehouse section in Hialeah was roped off by crime scene tape as police talked to witnesses and investigators gathered evidence.
“I heard shots but I wasn’t sure,” said Rosa Martinez, a woman who lives nearby.
Police say the victim was working outside the warehouse when a black SUV with four males approached. A witness said one of the men got out of that SUV and went straight for the victim’s gold chain.
The shooting left those in this neighborhood frightened and determined to take precautions.
“I used to go on walks, walk to the market but not anymore. I don’t go now because I’m scared,” said Sonia Targarona.
The victim’s wife said that he’s worked at that warehouse fixing and painting boats for about a year. If you have any information, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
