Broward jail courtroom cleared after inmate falsely claims he has Ebola

The morning bond court hearings at the Broward Courthouse were disrupted Friday morning and the jail locked down for several hours after an inmate allegedly said he has Ebola.

By 3 p.m. however, Joseph Britton, 42, of Lake Worth —whose statement "I have Ebola" was recorded in a Fort Lauderdale police report — had been found by Broward Health Medical Center to not have the potentially fatal virus, Broward Sheriff’s spokeswoman Veda Coleman-Wright said.
