Cops: Woman locks roommate in hot garage, demands $200

Palm Beach Post

A Jupiter-area woman locked her roommate in a hot garage and said she wouldn’t let her out until her boyfriend paid her $200, according to an arrest report.

Savannah Underwood, 29, faces a charge of false imprisonment of an adult in connection to locking the 24-year-old woman in the garage, the report said. The woman’s boyfriend came with the $200 and Underwood let her out of the garage after 45 minutes.

The woman was sweating and crying when Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputies arrived and entered the house in Jupiter Gardens, an unincorporated pocket of the town south of Indiantown Road and west of Central Boulevard, the report said.

Underwood immediately began yelling at the deputies and telling them they couldn’t enter without a warrant, but they said the roommate let them in. She continued to yell at the deputies and resisted when they tried to handcuff her, the report said.

Deputies also found drug paraphernalia related to crack cocaine in the house. Underwood told them she struggles with a pill addiction and her boyfriend smokes crack, the report said.

She also faces a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. She remained at the Palm Beach County Jail on Sunday morning without bail, online jail records reveal.
