A 55-year-old Florida man is facing gun charges after firing at a raccoon that was on his property.
According to the Daytona Beach News Journal, Joseph Perugia of Palm Coast is facing two counts of reckless or negligent discharge of a firearm on a residential property, use of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Flagler County authorities responded to reports of gunfire at Pergia’s home at 9 p.m. Monday. When officers arrived, Perugia drunkenly refused to drop his weapon or come out from behind his gate, according to the report.
He finally obliged and informed officers that he fired two shots at a raccoon that was stealing his dog’s food. Jail records show that Perugia was released from custody Tuesday morning after posting $4,000 bail.
