Volunteers work together on Carver Elementary beautification

Students, parents and teachers recently rolled up their sleeves and helped beautify the grounds of G.W. Carver Elementary School, 238 Grand Ave. in Coral Gables.

The school’s Parent Teacher Association was awarded a $2,000 beautification grant by University Baptist Church. On Dec. 10 the volunteers planted more than 300 shrubs and 100 plants at the main entrance of the school along Grand Avenue.

They also helped paint the historic school sign and decorated special mosaic tile plant vases. At the end of the day, the participants enjoyed an outdoor barbecue and celebrated the successful completion of the project.
