A man who told police his car was stolen with a 2-year-old inside has been charged with filing a false police report.

Miami Gardens police arrested Doneal Ford, who also had a warrant for marijuana possession.

Ford initially told officers that the girl, whom he identified as his goddaughter, was inside his yellow 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse when he left it running outside a liquor store at 4662 NW 83rd St. just before it was stolen Friday night.

Investigators determined the child was with her mother and not with Ford. The car was found at 4955 NW 199th St. in Miami Gardens.
