A father is shot and killed near Fort Lauderdale. BSO needs help finding the killer

Shots rang out early Monday morning in an unincorporated pocket of Broward County near Fort Lauderdale.

When the gunfire stopped, a 27-year-old man was dead and the shooter was gone.

By Monday afternoon, the Broward Sheriff’s Department was asking for the community’s help in piecing together what happened.

According to BSO, a 911 call came in reporting a shooting just before 6 a.m. Monday at Northwest Sixth Street and Northwest 27th Avenue in unincorporated central Broward.

When deputies arrived, they found Willis Wyche, of Fort Lauderdale, dead. No other injuries were reported.

Wyche’s mother told Miami Herald news partner CBS4 that her son had two little girls.

She told the station that someone was targeting him and she warned him not to leave the house.

“Who knows I wasn’t going to see him no more!” she said through tears.

Anyone with information is asked to call BSO Homicide Detectives Samantha Cottam at 954-321-4544 or John Curcio at 954-321-4210 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
