Robbery gone bad at hotel leaves man shot in the leg and suspects on the loose

Miami

A man was shot in the leg early Wednesday morning in the parking lot of a Miami Springs hotel during an attempted robbery.

Miami Springs Police Chief Armando Guzman said the shooting happened at 3 a.m. in the parking lot of the Embassy Suites at 3974 NW South River Dr. A witness told police that two men pulled into the parking lot in a car, there was some type of verbal dispute and a struggle, and the man was shot.

It was unclear Wednesday morning if the man was staying at the hotel or if he knew the robbers. It also wasn’t clear what if anything was taken from the victim.

Guzman said the victim’s injury isn’t believed to be life-threatening and that detectives were waiting to speak with him at the hospital.

Anyone with information should call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
