Miami police are investigating the shooting of a 16-year-old who was shot in the back Tuesday night.
The incident occurred at 838 NW 58th St. around 10:45p.m., said a Miami police spokesman, Officer Christopher Bess. According to detectives, the victim was riding his bike when a red car pulled up next to him. The shooter got out of the car and opened fire, shooting the victim multiple times, Bess said.
The victim was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in stable condition. Bess said police do not know if the victim was the intended target or what the motive was for the shooting.
The teen underwent surgery and is in stable condition at Jackson, said Miami-Dade Schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho, who tweeted about the incident Tuesday night.
The victim was the third teenager shot in Miami on Tuesday. Two teens — one 18 and one 19 — were shot in Miami within 30 minutes of each other Tuesday afternoon, according to Miami police.
