Wall of weapons missing after robbery at gun store

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating a brazen smash-and-grab burglary at a gun store early Tuesday.

The suspect or suspects smashed the entire glass facade of the Tampa Arms Company, 4023 W Waters Ave., and stole several guns. The store is in the Northwest Plaza about a half mile west of North Dale Mabry Highway.

Deputies were working Tuesday to determine the number and type of guns stolen.

Thomas Hauser, listed in state records as chief operating officer of Tampa Arms Company LLC, declined to comment when a Tampa Bay Times reporter reached him by phone Monday.

"I'm a little busy right now," Hauser said.

Photos on the store's Facebook page show an interior brick wall of the store lined with rifles and handguns. Tuesday morning, what appeared to be the same wall was completely bare.
