A man was left clinging to life after he was shot Friday afternoon in front of a Flagami upholstery shop.

Police did not release the man’s name, age or a possible motive for the shooting. They said the victim was standing with a group of men when someone fired off several rounds. He was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital where he underwent surgery.

Miami Police spokeswoman Kenia Fallat said police received a call at 1:24 p.m. Two hours later police were still gathering evidence and speaking with potential witnesses. Fallat said police are also looking for surveillance video to try and identify the shooter.

No weapon was recovered. The shooting happened just outside the store on Southwest 73rd Court just a few doors down from Southwest Eighth Street. The street has a few commercial businesses — a puppy store, print and photo shop — then becomes residential as it heads north.

Anyone with information is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
