Smoke from fires in the Big Cypress National Preserve obscured visibility enough that the Florida Highway Patrol has closed U.S. 41 from the Miccosukee Tribe Reservation west to Collier County.

The length of Tamiami Trail’s closure will be determined by the visibility.

Fires and smoke have closed U.S. 41 off and on throughout this week.
