The Association of Government Accountants presented South Miami Chief Financial Officer Alfredo Riverol with the distinguished local government leadership national award on Feb. 23 at the 2016 annual national leadership conference in Washington, D.C.

The award recognizes leadership of individuals in local government that “led to improved financial management practices, policies, systems or operations and consistently exhibited the highest person and professional standards,” according to a press release.

“Alfredo’s belief in government and his dedication to public service is admirable. His ethics and moral being stands to be a model for anyone who aspires to serve the public in a government position capacity and as a professional in the outstanding accounting field,” the release added.
