One person is dead after South Miami police responded to a shooting at food market on Southwest 59th Avenue and 68th Street.
A nearby school, J.R.E. Lee Educational Center, a private charter middle school, was placed on lockdown.
“We are not sure just yet how many shooter. What we know is that there is one,” said South Miami police Captain Larry Corbin. “Miami-Dade Police homicide unit is in route and will be handling it.”
Corbin said the call came in around 11:30 a.m. The victim is male but has yet to be identified.
