Recent announcements by Palmetto Bay speak to quality fiscal management and continued positive progress in providing services to residents as well as continuing to build community.
I would like to thank Miami-Dade County Fire Rescue for their efforts in working with me to locate two new Fire Stations in Palmetto Bay. Over the past few years Fire Rescue has accepted my invitation to attend town hall meetings, make presentations before our Village Council, held meetings with residents and congressional aides as well as actively seeking properties for consideration. Fire Rescue is committed to the considerations of locating a station successfully within a residential area including design, buffer, noise, and compatibility. This is an important life safety issue for Palmetto Bay that will now have a timeline of implementation.
Fitch Ratings Agency affirmed the “AA” rating on the village’s bonds and assigned an “AA+” implied general obligation bond rating. With over $13 million in reserves, Palmetto Bay is considered financially sound and well managed by Fitch and Standard & Poor’s.
The Fourth of July Independence Day Celebration between 5 and 9 p.m., is another of the Experience Downtown Events, part of the Downtown Revitalization Task Force effort. (More information is on village website.) This Fourth of July celebration is the first for Palmetto Bay and will feature a Free Kids Fun Zone, beer garden, music, Food Trucks, and of course fireworks.

Programs over the past year have included concerts, antique car shows, movie nights, the Celebration Picnic, Friday Night Downtown Experiences, Eco Kayak Tours, Fishing Clinics, Gardening classes, Zoomba, Earth Week, Holiday by the Bay, Back to School Carnival, Halloween, and more. So many residents tell me that these programs build a great sense of community and are why they like living in Palmetto Bay.
The Palmetto Bay summer programs still have room for campers at the Tennis Camp and the Coral Reef Park Camp programs. Our police outreach officers are continuing the “RAD Kids” program during camp sessions or as individual enrollees.
Palmetto Bay has great news to report this summer.
