Miami-Dade police say two robbers impersonating police officers handcuffed a South Miami-Dade couple in their home and stole the cash from the couple’s safe around 3 a.m. Tuesday.
No one was injured. The three children in the house slept through the armed robbery.
Miami-Dade police Detective Argemis Colome said police don’t know how much was taken from the home in the 9800 block of Southwest 159th Street, which is just west of Palmetto Bay.
One thug was described as a man aged 25-30, 170-180 pounds with long hair in a ponytail. He wore what appeared to be a bulletproof jacket and a gun belt in which he carried a black handgun. The other man’s description: age 25-30, a little bulkier at 180-200 pounds, wearing a long-sleeved shirt with “Police” on a side and carrying a black handgun. They absconded east on Southwest 159th Street.
