Photo: Fireman free man trapped behind fence after car knocks over powerline

A rainslick road caused a man to slide through a fence at NE 16th street and 1st avenue, clip a wire and knock down a 7,620 volt power line at about 11 a.m Friday morning, according to police and Florida Power and Light workers on the scene.

The line fell on a fence, trapping the man, and Miami Firefighters and police to wait 20 minutes for an FP&L crew to turn off the power so the victim could be checked out. He was uninjured but his Corvette was heavily damaged.

Police and fire departments in Miami-Dade County had worked over 30 rain related car accidents by mid morning.
