Drivers zipping by Northwest 36th Street at 57th Avenue know which side of the street they are on when they look up at the new street sign. The portion of the street, once named Doral Boulevard, is now called Miami Springs Boulevard, on the east side, and Virginia Gardens Boulevard, to the west.

Miami Springs voted to change the name of its portion in 2013. Soon after, Virginia Gardens changed the name on its side.

Tens of thousands of vehicles travel daily along this section of road, according to state records. It hugs the northern boundary of Miami International Airport.
