Miami Springs and Virginia Gardens have rolled out an enhanced free shuttle service that now takes riders to the Hialeah Metrorail station.

The service runs 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and has a total of 18 stops including local senior centers, city halls and the Curtiss Mansion.

While the shuttle has designated stops, it will also pick up passengers "who hail it along the enclosed route, with the exception of Northwest 36th Street," according to a city news release.

"For many years our shuttle only traveled within our city limit," Miami Springs City Councilman Jaime Petralanda said, adding that he is working with officials to extend the route with future stops in Doral and Medley.
