Miami-Dade County officials have awarded a contract for the $10 million project to reconstruct the westernmost stretch of the Venetian Causeway.
Miami-based GLF Construction Corporation will be doing the work after the contract was awarded this week. According to Francisco Calderon, communications manager for the county’s public works and waste management department, the project is currently in the coordination phase with all the permitting agencies and the start date is still being discussed.
“The actual bridge closure date is currently being discussed,” he wrote in an email. “Formal notices will be going out once a date is set to notify residents and motorists of the upcoming closure, a minimum of two weeks in advance.”
When work starts, the project is expected to last nine months.
