A Miami Beach maintenance worker was killed Friday night in what police called an unfortunate accident caused by bad weather.
Police said the man was working at the parking garage entrance of the Flamingo Apartments, 1560 Bay Road, when he was hit by a glass tabletop. They believe the tabletop was detached and went airborne due to strong winds.
“He was working on the gate and there was a table up on the ninth floor; the tabletop got loose and flew and unfortunately struck him,” Miami Beach spokesman Ernesto Rodriguez said.
The unidentified man was taken by Miami Beach Fire Rescue to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
