A man who shot and killed a woman and then turned the gun on himself — and injured a 7-year-old boy in the process — was in “some sort of” domestic relationship with her, according to Miami police.

Roberto Alfonso Jr., 55, opened fire on Ivy Torres, 36, Saturday afternoon inside a duplex in the 3600 block of Northwest Second Street, police said Sunday. He then shot and killed himself.

Officers responding to multiple calls of shots being fired found the man and woman dead and the boy wounded. The boy was taken to the hospital where he was recovering Sunday, police said.

Police on Sunday said Alfonso was not the boy's father, but Torres was his mother. The Department of Children and Families will determine who will now get custody of the boy.

Police said the relationship between the couple was not clear but said there was a “domestic connection.”
