Miami police set up a perimeter in Little Havana from Southwest 10th to 11th streets and from Southwest Fourth to Fifth avenues in pursuit of a suspect police say pointed a gun at an officer.
For hours, drivers were advised to avoid the area. The man wasn’t found, and the area is now open to traffic.
Miami police spokeswoman Kenia Fallat said an officer in the area on an unrelated call saw a shirtless, sweaty man standing on a corner, holding something under his arm. While being questioned, the man dropped what turned out to be a gun and drugs wrapped in a T-shirt.
The man then, Fallat said, pulled out a second gun, pointed it at the officer and fled. The drama started about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.
