A collision between a pickup truck and a semi-truck left one dead and two injured Monday afternoon in Hialeah.
Around 1:30 p.m., a pickup truck driving south on East Eighth Avenue, near Sixth Street, lost control and slammed into a semi-truck heading north, said Hialeah Fire Rescue Capt. Cesar Espinosa.
The semi-truck driver is fine, he said, but the pickup truck was crushed on the passenger side and suffered a chest injury.
The driver and a passenger with a head injury were airlifted to Jackson Trauma by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, said Erika Benitez, a spokeswoman.
Another passenger in the pickup truck, a woman in her 30s, died in the crash. More than an hour after the crash, she was still in the vehicle, and Hialeah Fire Rescue worked to get her out, Espinosa said.
