Thieves stopped at a Hialeah McDonald’s early Tuesday and proceeded to succeed where many a criminal has failed (often comically): stealing a bank ATM.
Using what Hialeah police called “heavy construction equipment” and what Miami Herald news partner CBS4 called “a forklift,” thieves ripped an ATM from a Bank of America drive-through lane at 1001 E. Ninth St. around 3 a.m.
Then, the key part, they managed to get away with the big cash machine.
CBS4 says the forklift came from construction in progress at the McDonald’s at 1021 E. 10th Ave. The ATM was reportedly recovered without loss of money.

Failed attempts at stealing entire ATMs became such a staple of TruTV Network’s “World’s Dumbest Criminals,” the series’ celebrity commentators began greeting each ATM theft clip with glee.
