Cutler Bay was recently honored with several construction-related awards.

Its Southwest 212th Street Drainage & Roadway Improvement Project was selected for the Miami-Dade American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)’s Project of the Year category one award.

The ASCE annually honors projects for efforts in research, design, construction, and management with a cost of below $10 million.

Yenier Vega, Cutler Bay’s stormwater utility manager, was recognized by the American Public Works Association’s (APWA) Florida Chapter as the Exceptional Public Works Performance award recipient in the Professional Manager of the Year category. Vega receives a $500 scholarship from the South Florida America Public Works Association.

The APWA’s Florida chapter also recognized Kimley-Horn and Associates, the town’s engineering consultant, as Consultant of the Year. Town Manager Ralph Casals, Vega, and public works director Alfredo Quintero will attend the APWA Awards and Scholarship luncheon on Aug. 12 in Hallandale Beach.
