Sweet smells and sizzling sounds from the grills of local chefs will take stage Saturday at Cutler Bay’s third annual “Rib Ticklers Ball” at Cutler Ridge Park.
The Backyard Gladiators and the BBQ Grillers, as well as other culinary artists and grill masters will provide real barbeque for Cutler Bay residents. Cash prizes and trophies will go to first, second, and third place winners of categories including brisket, chicken, pulled pork, and pork ribs. A grand champion will also be crowned and the completion is open to anyone to compete.
“It’s our third annual and it has been very well attended,” Town Manager Ralph Casals said. “We have local restaurants and amateurs that come in and put their best food forward. We have judges in the audience and a lot of folks for free samples and family recipes. It’s a nice small town event. We have several hundred and every year it gets bigger and bigger.”
The event also features a bounce-house and slide for kids and a tribute for veterans. The event is free to attend but food and beverages are available for sale, with some samples available. Country western band, the Rodeo Clowns, will provide entertainment. The event is scheduled from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Cutler Ridge Park, 10100 SW 200th St. For more information, or to register as a chef, or reserve booth space, contact Fred Bobson at 305-238-4166.
