Coral Gables was one of 11 cities from around the world invited to participate in a conference on Youth Policy hosted by its sister city Aix-en-Provence in the south of France.
The event allows the sister cities to learn about each other and exchange policy ideas and best practices on specific issues.
Coral Gables Mayor Jim Cason talked about the city’s youth services and programs, many offered by the War Memorial Youth Center, and focus on such issues as crime prevention, water safety and efforts to reduce obesity.
“A city’s future can be shaped by the policies, programs and opportunities it offers its young citizens who will become our next leaders, thinkers and doers,” Cason said. “Our mission is to help enhance the health and safety of our youth and enrich their lives by instilling positive values.
