After accidentally shooting himself in the leg during an arrest Wednesday night, a Coral Gables police officer is recovering in a local hospital.
Police said the situation happened at a 7 Eleven, at 3960 SW Eighth St., just before 7 p.m. The officer, an 11-year veteran, was conducting an arrest of two people when the accidental shot went off.
His injury was minor and he is in good condition, according to police spokeswoman Kelly Denham.
The two suspects were arrested as part of an investigation but police did not give further details on the nature of the case.

The arrest, and the officer's accidental injury, tied up traffic on Salzedo Street for about an hour, as the road was blocked from Eighth Street to Antiquera Avenue. The street was eventually reopened.
The store and a neighboring laundromat remained blocked off by police tape late into the evening.
