Coconut Grove gets new police commander

Officer Richard Gentry, the newly appointed Commander of Coconut Grove’s police force, is out improving the community, building on the foundation that his predecessor Jorge Colina established.

This past December after serving as Commander of Coconut Grove for one year, Officer Colina was appointed as the new Major of the Tactical Operations section. Lieutenant Gentry was chosen as his successor. Working to build on his predecessor’s efforts, Commander Gentry is focused on making Coconut Grove a safer, friendlier community.

“I think Major Colina and I think alike, with regard to the concept of teamwork, working together with the community to decrease crime and bring positive events,” says Gentry. “He’s done an incredible job in Coconut Grove and I just want to keep that moving forward in the right direction.”
