The intersection of Ives Dairy Road and the FEC train tracks in Aventura reopened late Tuesday night after a train collided with a car, police said. The closure lasted about three hours.
The accident happened at about 7:20 p.m at Ives Dairy Road and the FEC Railway.
Police said the street reopened around 10 p.m. after the totaled car was hauled away.
According to police, a northbound FEC train struck the car, which was on the tracks. It was not immediately clear why the car was on the tracks or who was at fault.

The driver of the car was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition, police said.
Traffic was already heavy in the area because the intersection of the railroad tracks and Miami Gardens Drive has been shut for construction.
