Couple covered in bleach after robbery at gunpoint, police say

Miami

Miami-Dade police are looking for an armed man they say locked a couple in their garage, stole more than $40,000 in goods and doused them in bleach.

At about 8 a.m. July 7, a woman returned to her home in the 80th block of Northwest 18th Court after a morning jog and was confronted by an armed man in her home, police said. At gunpoint, he forced her to the bedroom where her husband was sleeping before stealing money, jewelry, cell phones and a .38 Derringer handgun from the home.

The man then forced the couple into a bathroom, where he doused them with chlorine bleach. He later locked them inside their garage, police said.

Police said the man unsuccessfully tried to steal their car and eventually ran away with the couple’s things, which were estimated to be valued at more than $40,000.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
