Tuesday, for the second consecutive day, a major accident shut down a freeway late in the morning rush hour and gave Miami-Dade Fire Rescue some unwanted business.

The road Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. was the Florida Turnpike around the Southwest 152nd Street exit. The crash involved a single automobile, a toppled truck with gas both in its tank and as its cargo. Ergo, fire.

A total of 16 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units responded. Fire Rescue said there were no injuries. The northbound side reopened after almost an hour. Southbound lanes opened after two hours.

Monday, a accident involving a car, a semi-truck and a cement mixer truck shut down Interstate 95 northbound for several hours.

The cause of the accident is unknown.
