A swimming ban issued last week for the waters surrounding Oleta River State Park has been lifted.

The Florida Department of Health issued the advisory Tuesday after 1.2 to 1.6 million gallons of untreated waste water was released into the nearby waters after heavy rains.

The advisory was a precautionary measure until test results could be analyzed. The ban was lifted for Sunday after the department received satisfactory results around the Northeast Miami-Dade recreation area.
