Reprising a holiday tradition now 30 years in the making, merchants in Miami Lakes will kick off the holiday season Saturday with the city’s annual Main Street Festival of Lights.
Miami Lakes’ central business district, Main Street, already is a hub of activity, with restaurants, shopping centers, a 17-screen theater and several civic centers. But when the holiday season begins, the area comes alive. On Saturday, the city will host the Lighting of Main Street, a live DJ, performances from local students, games, prizes and a visit from Santa.
The event begins at 6 p.m., at 6709 Main Street. The popular celebration, which is sponsored by the Graham Companies and Main Street Merchants, is free, and will take place along a two-block stretch of Miami Lakes’ downtown.
