Woman stabs attacker during home invasion

Miami police are investigating a home invasion in which the homeowner fought back and stabbed her attacker with the kitchen knife she was using to cook dinner with.

According to police, the incident happened shortly before 6 p.m. Friday at a home off Northwest 15th Street and 31st Avenue in Flagami.

The man entered the home through the front door. The victim left it open because she was cooking and wanted to ventilate the home.

It’s unknown if the man was armed but he demanded money, which the victim gave to him.

According to police, the man demanded other items and kicked the woman’s dog, then began struggling with her. The victim grabbed the knife she’d been cooking with and stabbed the robber, who then fled.

In the struggle, the victim lost consciousness for about an hour. When she came to, she called 911.

The woman was treated and released at the scene. Police said her injuries were minor.
