Gunfire erupted Saturday morning in a southern Miami-Dade community, leaving one man dead and another seriously wounded.
Miami-Dade police officer Alvaro Zabaleta called it a "possible domestic dispute."
It happened about 10:30 a.m. in Leisure City, just northeast of Homestead, and multiple shots were fired, he said.
"This tragedy is under investigation," Zabaleta said, describing the dead man as in his 50s and the wounded man as in his 20s. The younger man was airlifted to Kendall Regional Trauma Center for emergency surgery. His condition was not known.

Both men had been shot more than once, Zabaleta said. While there were bloodstains in the parking lot and the dead man could be seen under a tarp beneath a tree outside the apartment complex on Southwest 288 Street, Zabaleta said police had not ruled out the possibility that some of the gunfire had begun inside an apartment while a 2-year-old and a woman were inside. Neither was hurt.
Neighbors on the scene said the woman and child were the wife and daughter of the dead man.
Zabaleta was unable to name any of the individuals involved.
Several dozen people, some describing themselves as relatives of the dead man, clambered at the crime scene tape for word of what happened. One neighbor, who would not give his name, said he heard one or two shots, a pause and then seven or eight more.
