A woman who apparently held her elderly parents hostage was taken into custody by a SWAT team Sunday night, and is expected to be charged with attempted murder, Coral Gables police said.
According to police, the woman’s parents arrived at the Coral Gables police department about 6 p.m. with lacerations and burn marks.
The daughter was taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center late Sunday, said police spokesman Dean Wellinghoff.
The couple told police that their daughter had been holding them hostage for a couple of days and that they were finally able to leave the home on East Sunrise Avenue on Sunday.

Officers arrived at the house and asked the daughter to come out. After she refused to leave the house, a SWAT team was sent in, and she was taken into custody.
Police said they believe the woman has a mental condition.
The parents were being treated for non-life-threatening injuries Sunday night at Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center.
Police continued to investigate. The names of the daughter and her parents were not immediately released.
