A 22-year-old Homestead woman gave birth to a baby girl Tuesday in the parking lot of a Cutler Bay McDonald's.
A friend driving Silvia Nanduca -- already in labor -- to the hospital pulled into a McDonald's, 10855 Caribbean Blvd., when Nanduca said the pain had become too intense, said Lt. Elkin Sierra, a spokesman for Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
Fire crews arrived just before noon to find the woman in the car with a healthy baby in her arms, Sierra said. They cut the umbilical cord and took the mother and her baby, both in good condition, to Baptist Hospital.
A Baptist spokeswoman said the baby was born at 11:50 a.m. at 6 pounds, 11 ounces. Nanduca said she has not named the baby yet.
